How are we embracing sustainability?

As a company with a global presence, we are very conscious of the environment and are making every effort to minimise our impact on the planet. Our Environmental Task Force was established a few months ago with the goal of setting clear, attainable goals for functioning more sustainably.

Given the changing attitudes and ideals of society, sustainability feels particularly important. It’s crucial that businesses acknowledge and take into account the fact that many individuals are choosing to live more environmentally friendly lives and are more conscious of the planet. Offering people eco-friendly choices when their pet dies is particularly important in our industry.

Our product line serves as the starting point for our sustainability approach. For instance, we are now making efforts to guarantee that our products are made with FSC-certified materials. Given that some of our product range is wooden, this recognition ensures sustainable forestry and is especially pertinent to our business. Our goal is for key products to be made with FSC certified materials by January 2024.

We’re also analysing waste and packaging. For example, we have upgraded our wooden hearts to be made from beech rather than oak – the consistency in the finish will help us to significantly reduce wastage and, to lower our plastic use, we have also made adjustments to the packaging so that our hearts are now supplied in a biodegradable natural card box.

Our operations

To encourage our employees to think about other, more environmentally friendly methods to commute to and from work, one of the additional initiatives we’ve made is to sign up with the Bike2Work Scheme. As part of the Government’s Green Transport Plan, our staff can save up to 42% on the cost of a bike. Not only does this offer a way to improve overall health and well-being, it’s also an accessible way to lower travel costs, which is especially important considering the current price of fuel.

As part of a complex but necessary process, we will be analysing how much energy we use within our onsite premises as well as each product that’s made. This will allow us to define our objectives and aid us in planning our goals.
