I’m Products and Purchasing Director and have been working with Tributes for about 20 years. Although I do spend time travelling – both around the UK and internationally – I’m usually found focused on stock levels, product development and logistics in my office at Head Office. When I get the opportunity to be out and about, I enjoy spending time with our network of suppliers, discussing new product development, quality assurance and provenance. In recent years we’ve also been working hard on topics including sustainability, and environmentally friendly alternatives.
My background in woodwork and furniture making has certainly come in handy when helping to design new products for Tributes over the years. Having been part of Tributes for some time, I’ve certainly enjoyed seeing the culture and relationship between business and staff develop, although it’s great that our family focused ethos, and commitment to service doesn’t differ hugely from when we started out in our small office with just four employees.
At home I have two beautiful kids and a fluffy Sheepadoodle called Olive, who collectively manage to occupy most of my time. I also enjoy sports and took part in a charity boxing event in 2021, which was amazingly fun and was well supported by the entire team at Tributes who came along to show their support. My other sports love is rugby, from watching to playing, although unfortunately I seem to get injured a lot easier than I did 10 years ago! My most ridiculous injury was snapping my Achilles tendon two years ago – I was on the rugby pitch, but it happened during the warmup, I wasn’t even playing!
My weekends are mostly occupied by my kids (teenagers can be very demanding!) but we always seem to have fun especially when we’re keeping active; horse riding with my daughter or BMXing for my son. When I have some quiet time, I retreat to my garage/workshop using the lathe or forge; just tinkering, and learning new techniques or making things for our home.
One of my favorite holiday destinations would have to be Aachen in Germany at Christmas. The markets are so beautiful and the food and drinks are fantastic; it really sets you in the holiday spirit.
