Roxy’s Rainbow is a small, family run business in Hartlepool, providing individual only pet cremations to families across the North East.
Following the sudden loss of their own dog, Darren and Pamela Bates were unsure of who they could turn to and what options were available to them. Their experiences led them to establish their own pet crematorium in February 2021, so they could give other owners the time and space to say their last goodbyes to their animals when the time came.

Working with Petributes
After shadowing another pet crematorium business in Wakefield, Petributes was recommended to Darren as a well-respected supplier in the sector. The team at Roxy’s Rainbow wanted to be able to offer a complete service to their customers including a choice of high quality urns and caskets, so that each family had access to a beautiful resting place for their pet. Added to this was an awareness that many families are keen to create a personalised keepsake to remember their pet, and so access to a beautiful range of memorial products was another important factor.

Since setting up the business, Roxy’s Rainbow has become extremely successful, caring for more than 600 pets and their families to date. The business has flourished as a result of online and word of mouth recommendations, and has strong ties to a network of local independent vets. The team deliver a highly personalised, seven-day a week service, offering collections from home or vet practices, or the option for families to bring their pet to the crematorium to say their final goodbyes in the privacy of a dedicated farewell room.

The Roxy’s Rainbow service includes an Urn or Scatter Tube for the safe transfer or storage of pet ashes. The team has also found many owners are keen to choose a keepsake from the Petributes range with memory bears and keepsake hearts, which can be personalised with an engraved name or message, a popular choice. Owners have also been impressed with the range of bronze effect animal figurines, which provide a decorative sculpture in the shape of a variety of companion animals. All can be used with a dedicated plaque or tag which can be engraved with names, dates and short messages.
